The Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence is thrilled to announce Oreoluwa Owolabi of Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School (Flossmoor, IL) as the recipient of the 2026 Morgan Costa-Rhodes Memorial Scholarship!
Oreoluwa has competed in quiz bowl since seventh grade, and this year earned both All-Conference Honors and a spot on the All-Sectional team.
Michael Sacks, who has coached Oreoluwa in both Scholastic Bowl and Mathletes for the past three years, praised not only her academic and co-curricular achievements, but her role as a student leader and role model to younger students.
“More important than her contributions to the team success in match performance, Oreoluwa is bright, bubbly, enthusiastic, helpful with the younger players, and a leader both by example and by creating a positive team atmosphere,” shared Sacks.
Outside of school, Oreoluwa also volunteers at both the food pantry and nursery at her church. She cited these experiences helping others in need as inspiring her future career goals as well. Oreoluwa will begin her studies this autumn at the University of Chicago and plans to study psychology before pursuing a career as an emergency medicine physician.
