PACE NSC Liveblog: Superplayoffs Round 1

Welcome to the 1st round of the PACE NSC superplayoffs! We will be covering Hunter vs. Centennial this round. I will also be posting updates on Twitter using the hashtag #pacensc.

Tossup 1: Centennial buzzes first, but they get the religion tossup incorrect. Hunter are unable to pick it up. 0-0.

Tossup 2: Adam answers correctly, and they get all 30 points on the bonus to put Centennial on the board. 40-0 Centennial.

Tossup 3: It’s not Hunter’s turn to buzz incorrectly, and Centennial picks it up and 30s the bonus. 80-0 Centennial.

Tossup 4: Lots of interrupts this match, as Centennial misses the tossup. Hunter answers it, and they 20 the bonus on history. 80-30 Centennial.

Tossup 5: First power of the match goes to Centennial, and they sweep the film bonus. 130-30 Centennial.

Tossup 6: Adam answers incorrectly, and Hunter picks it up. They 30 the bonus. 130-70 Centennial.

Tossup 7: Centennial responds with a buzz on social sciences, and they too get 30 on the bonus. 170-70 Centennial.

Tossup 8: Centennial gets their fourth incorrect buzz of the match, and Hunter takes advantage of it and sweeps the bonus. 170-110 Centennial.

Tossup 9: Hunter pulls to within one tossup of Centennial, and they get 20 points on the bonus. 170-140 Centennial.

Tossup 10: We enter the half with a Centennial power, and they 20 the bonus. Hunter manages to steal 10 points. 220-150 Centennial.

Tossup 11: Centennial extends their lead with a power and a sweep on a physics bonus. 270-150 Centennial.

Tossup 12: Centennial gets their third tossup in a row, but they don’t get any points on the bonus. Hunter picks up 10 on the bounceback. 280-160 Centennial.

Tossup 13: Adam gets another power, and they are able to get 20 points on the bonus this time. Hunter still manages to steal 10 points, though. 320-170 Centennial.

Tossup 14: The streak ends with a miss by Centennial. Hunter are able to pick it up, and they 20 the bonus. 320-200 Centennial.

Tossup 15: Hunter tries to make it two in a row, but they are incorrect. Centennial gets it, and they get 20 on the bonus, while Hunter steals 10. 350-210 Centennial.

Tossup 16: Buzzer race goes to Centennial, but they do not get the tossup right. Hunter picks up the music tossup, and they 20 the bonus. 350-240 Centennial.

Tossup 17: A history tossup goes to Centennial, and they sweep the bonus to all but clinch the victory. 390-240 Centennial.

Tossup 18: Centennial powers, and they are able to get 20 points on a lit bonus. 430-240 Centennial.

Tossup 19: Hunter gets the second-to-last tossup, and they are able to get 20 points on the bonus. 430-270 Centennial.

Tossup 20: Centennial gets the last tossup wrong, and Hunter picks it up and 30s the bonus to end the game. 430-310 Centennial.

PACE NSC Liveblog: Playoff Tiebreakers

Welcome to the playoff tiebreakers of the PACE NSC! St. Anselm’s will be playing Thomas Jefferson on 10 tossups, and the winner will play Seven Lakes to see who will enter the superplayoffs. I will also be posting updates on Twitter using the hashtag #pacensc.

St. Anselm’s vs. Thomas Jefferson

Tossup 1: St. Anselm’s misses the first tossup, and Thomas Jefferson is able to pick it up. They get all 30 points on a math bonus. 40-0 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 2: St. Anselm’s evens the score with a tossup and 30 on a literature bonus. 40-40.

Tossup 3: The tie is broken by Thomas Jefferson, who get the tossup and manage 20 points on the bonus. 70-40 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 4: Thomas Jefferson buzzes but are unable to figure out the answer. St. Anselm’s gets it, and they 30 the bonus to take the lead. 80-70 St. Anselm’s.

Tossup 5: Raynor buzzes on the first clue, and gives Thomas Jefferson a power. They get 20 on the bonus, and St. Anselm’s steals 10 on the bounceback. 110-90 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 6: Thomas Jefferson powers astronomy, and they quickly 30 a current events bonus. 160-90 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 1: Thomas Jefferson starts off with a power. They get a physics bonus, which they 30. 50-0 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 2: A myth tossup is powered by Seven Lakes. They sweep the bonus to tie the game. 50-50.

Tossup 3: James first-lines the tossup, and both teams get 10 points on the bonus to give Thomas Jefferson the lead. 80-60 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 4: It’s now Seven Lakes’ turn to power, and they get 20 on a religion bonus to take the lead. 100-80 Seven Lakes.

Tossup 5: Thomas Jefferson powers. Every tossup has been powered this game. They get 10 on the bonus, but Seven Lakes steals 10. 110-110.

Tossup 6: Seven Lakes powers CS to take back the lead, and they quickly 30 the bonus. 160-110 Seven Lakes.

Tossup 7: Finally a tossup is not powered, though the pattern of alternating between Thomas Jefferson and Seven Lakes continues. TJ takes 20 points on the bonus. 160-140 Seven Lakes.

Tossup 8: Thomas Jefferson powers to tie the game, and a 20 on the bonus gives them the lead. 180-160 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 9: Thomas Jefferson buzzes, but is incorrect. Seven Lakes picks it up, and they get 20 on the bonus, while Thomas Jefferson steals 10 to tie the game with one TU to go. 190-190.

Welcome to the seventh round of the PACE NSC playoffs! We will be covering Cistercian vs. Thomas Jefferson. I will also be posting updates on Twitter using the hashtag #pacensc.

Tossup 1: We begin with a power by Thomas Jefferson. They get 20 on the first bonus. 40-0 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 2: Cistercian reponds with a power of their own, and both teams take 10 points on the bonus. 50-30 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 3: A myth tossup is answered incorrectly by Cistercian, and Thomas Jefferson picks it up. They get 20 on the bonus. 80-30 Thomas Jefferson.

Tossup 4: Thomas Jefferson extends their lead with a power, but they only get 10 on the bonus. Cistercian steals 10 on the bounceback. 110-40 Thomas Jefferson.

PACE NSC Liveblog: Playoff Round 6

Welcome to the sixth round of the PACE NSC playoffs! We will be covering Dorman vs. Detriot Catholic Central. I will also be posting updates on Twitter using the hashtag #pacensc.

Tossup 1: Dorman starts the day off with a first-line fine arts power. They get 20 points on the bonus. 40-0 Dorman.

Tossup 2: A history tossup also goes to Dorman, who quickly plow through a lit bonus for 30 points. 80-0 Dorman.

Tossup 3: Dorman yet again buzzes, but they are incorrect. DCC gets it at the end, and both teams get 10 points on the bonus. 90-20 Dorman.

Tossup 4: DCC gets a religion tossup at the giveaway, and they get 20 on the bonus this time, while Dorman steals 10 points. 100-50 Dorman.

Tossup 5: DCC powers astronomy, and the bonus on history is split amongst both teams for 10 points each. 110-80 Dorman.

Tossup 6: Dorman snaps DCC’s streak with a power of their own, and they get 20 points on a Current Events bonus. 150-80 Dorman.

Tossup 7: History goes to DCC, and they quickly 30 a physics bonus to bring them within 30 points. 150-120 Dorman.

Tossup 13: DCC responds with a buzz of their own, and they also sweep the bonus. 280-220 Dorman.

Tossup 14: Another tossup to DCC, and they 20 a religion bonus to bring them within one tossup. 280-250 Dorman.

Tossup 15: Dorman answers incorrectly, and DCC picks it up at the end. Both teams pick up 10 on the bonus. 290-260 Dorman.

Tossup 16: Dorman responds with a tossup of their own, and they pull off 20 on a CS bonus. 320-260 Dorman.

Tossup 19: A buzzer race goes to DCC. They need to get 10 points on the bonus to stay in the game, and they manage to get 20. 370-330 Dorman.

Tossup 20: And Dorman gets the last tossup on biology to win the game. They get all 30 points on the bonus to win, 410-330.

PACE NSC Liveblog: Playoff Round 5

Welcome to the fifth round of the PACE NSC playoffs! We will be covering Loyola vs. Carbondale. I will also be posting updates on Twitter using the hashtag #pacensc.

Tossup 1: Loyola misses the history tossup, and Carbondale picks it up and get all 30 on the bonus. 40-0 Carbondale.

Tossup 2: Loyola gets it correct this time, and neither team are able to get any points on the bonus. 40-10 Carbondale.

Tossup 3: Carbondale gets it this time. Neither team could pronounce the first bonus part, and they only get 10 on the bonus. 60-10 Carbondale.

Tossup 4: Loyola answers physics incorrectly, and Carbondale picks it up at the end. They once again only get 10 on the bonus. 80-10 Carbondale.

Tossup 5: Power by Carbondale. They manage 20 on the bonus on music. Loyola almost steals a part, but they take too long. 120-10 Carbondale.

Tossup 6: Loyola misses another tossup, and Carbondale answers it at the end. They get 20 on religion, and Loyola get 10 on the bounceback. 150-20 Carbondale.

Tossup 7: Carbondale wins a buzzer race, and they somehow manage to pull off 30 points on the bonus on what was pretty much a guess. 190-20 Carbondale.
